We have to talk about Cairo. I was in Cairo a few years ago, a very interesting city, but that’s not the point.

Cairo is also just representative of the following problem: some places (like Cairo) I can find, but the API doesn’t return any weather data at all. So you can find Cairo in version 7.9.1, but you don’t get updated data.

I can’t solve this problem, but only work around it: starting with 7.9.2 (coming weekend!), before I output a search result, I check if there is any data for that location. If not (sorry Cairoer) the place will not be listed in the search results.

The gadget tells you when a place is not listed. You can select a place nearby. And if weather data is available again in the future, Cairo will be listed again.

Kairo steht hier auch nur stellvertretend für folgendes Problem: manche Orte (wie Kairo) kann ich zwar finden, aber die API liefert gar keine Wetterdaten zurück. Du kannst also in Version 7.9.1 Kairo finden, erhältst aber keine aktualisierten Daten.

Ich kann dieses Problem nicht lösen, sondern nur umgehen: ab 7.9.2 (kommendes Wochenende!) prüfe ich, bevor ich ein Suchergebnis ausgebe, ob es zu diesem Ort auch Daten gibt. Falls nicht (sorry Kairoer) wird der Ort nicht in den Suchergebnissen aufgelistet.

Das Gadget sagt dir, wenn ein Ort nicht aufgelistet wurde. Du kannst einen Ort in der Nähe auszuwählen. Und falls in Zukunft doch wieder Wetterdaten verfügbar sind, wird auch Kairo wieder aufgelistet.
